Am I the only one who fixed a boring old ThinkPad screen flicker with a strip of electrical tape?

My old T420 had a flickering screen every time the lid moved, and I almost bought a new LCD cable for $22 before trying a 2 cent fix. I folded a little piece of electrical tape over the cable connector behind the bezel and it has stayed solid for 3 weeks now. Curious if anyone else has had luck with tape as a repair on these old machines.
