Why does nobody talk about the guy at the camera shop who said my blurry shots were a light leak, not bad focus?
Last month I brought a roll from my Pentax K1000 into a shop on Clark St in Chicago because half the frames came back foggy and soft. The guy behind the counter, must've been 70, held one up to the light and said 'that's not your focus, that's a foam seal gone bad, 8 bucks to fix.' I'd spent two rolls convinced I was just bad at focusing. Here's my question though: is it better to trust an old shop guy's guess off one look, or send the camera to a repair place and wait 3 weeks for a real test? The 8 dollar fix saved my trip photos but I keep wondering if he just got lucky. Anyone ever get a quick diagnosis like that and did it hold up?
