Overheard a lab guy say my negatives were 'flat', totally changed how I shoot
Was dropping off a roll at the camera shop on 5th and this older tech behind the counter said it to some other customer about their prints. Not talking about colors, he meant the contrast curve. I used to just meter for the shadows and let everything else fall where it fell. After hearing that, I looked up what a normal contrast curve should look like and started rating my film half a stop under box speed on sunny days. First roll after that, the midtones actually popped and highlights held detail. Cost me nothing to try. Has anyone else gotten feedback from a lab that just clicked for them?
