Wasted $60 on a fancy notebook system that fell apart in 2 weeks

Bought one of those leather-bound reusable notebook things. The one where you microwave the pages to erase them. Worked for 3 days. Then the pages started smudging. Then the binding split. Just use a cheap spiral notebook now. Feels better too. Anyone else get burned by those gimmick notebooks?

Noticed that with a lot of stuff lately. Had a "smart" water bottle that tracked how much I drank. Stopped connecting to the app after a week. Just bought a regular metal bottle and it works fine. Then there was that expensive chef knife that chipped on a carrot. Meanwhile my parents' old $20 knife from the 80s is still going strong. Feels like companies are selling us a story more than a product that actually works.

It's like they're not even trying to make stuff that lasts anymore... just need that shiny promise to get your money. The whole microwave erasing thing sounded too good to be true from the start, honestly. I bet they knew the binding was weak but shipped it anyway. It's exhausting sorting through all the gimmicks just to find something that actually works. A simple notebook that stays in one piece is a lot better than some overpriced trick that falls apart.
