The old timer at the hardware store who showed me how to sharpen a handsaw
He was maybe 80, just pulled out a triangle file and did it right there on the counter, no jig or anything. Has anyone else gotten a random hands-on lesson like that from a stranger that actually stuck with you?

Got a similar thing with a guy in a parking lot who showed me how to tie a trucker's hitch on a ratchet strap. Been using that knot for years now and it never slips.
