Am I the only one who got spooked by a repair guy saying my paper files will outlast his own scans?
Last Tuesday a guy fixing our office copier in Lansing said something that stuck with me. He said he has maybe 5 years of scans he can still open but a paper job ticket from 1998 he can read fine. I asked why, and he said every file type has to be opened by something that still runs, while ink just sits there. That night I dug out my old tax folder and realized the whole thing took me 4 minutes to find by hand. Now I keep a printed copy of my accounts and a paper calendar on the fridge, and honestly it is faster to glance at. Anyone else still keep a paper backup of stuff people tell you is silly to print?
