TIL a $20 foam backer rod saves way more money on concrete driveways than the $80 tube of caulk I bought first
Sealed the expansion gap wrong on my driveway in Rio Rancho and now water's getting under the slab, has anyone else dealt with that cracking thing that happens when you skip the rod?

Nah, I gotta disagree with maryadams on this one. The rod alone won't fix a slab that's already shifting from trapped water. You're better off digging out the old caulk, setting a new rod in dry, and topping it with fresh sealant for a proper fix.

Did you backfill the gap with the rod after you dug out all that caulk, or are you starting over from scratch?
