That cheap laminate flooring I was dead set against ended up surprising me

I put it in my rental property last year after the old carpet got ruined, and I figured it would look awful within 6 months. But it's held up through two tenants and a flood from a broken washing machine without even warping. Has anyone else had a budget material work out way better than they expected?

Man that's awesome when stuff like that happens, right? It's funny how sometimes the stuff you expect to be junk turns out to be the real workhorses. I feel like life has this weird pattern where the things you go into with zero expectations end up being the best surprises. Kinda makes you wonder how many good things we pass up just because we think we know better.

Honestly, that's so true. I bought a cheap pair of headphones once for like a tenner just to use as a backup, and they're still going strong years later while my fancy ones broke after six months. Tbh, that pattern kind of explains a lot about my love life too - the guys I thought were sure things turned out to be a mess, and the ones I barely noticed ended up being the nicest. Ngl, it's a bit embarrassing to admit how many times I've judged something or someone too fast and missed out. I guess my brain just loves being wrong in the most humbling way possible.
