My 1950s Nob Hill kitchen had 4 layers of flooring, and pulling it all up was the best call I made
When we opened up the kitchen in our Nob Hill house last spring, we hit vinyl, then linoleum, then tile, then original oak that was too far gone to save. A contractor told me to just lay new subfloor on top and save $1,800, but I pulled it all down to the joists anyway. Anyone else gone the hard route on a old Albuquerque house and regretted it, or was it worth the extra work?
