Just realized my cheap grout float was ruining my tile work
I been tiling my kitchen backsplash for three weeks now. Kept getting uneven grout lines no matter what I did. Bought a $6 grout float at the hardware store because I didn't want to spend more. Finally swapped it for a $18 rubber float with a metal handle. Huge difference. The cheap one flexed too much and left hollow spots. Now my lines are smooth and consistent. Anyone else find that spending a little more on a basic tool saved them hours of rework?

Used to grab the cheapest ones but that rubber float made a WORLD of difference honestly.

Spent five years using a cracked plastic one before I caved. Now I can't go back to sounding like I'm scraping a sidewalk.

omg the cracked plastic struggle is SO real lol. I had one that was literally held together with duct tape and hope for like two years because I didn't want to spend the money. Finally upgraded to a basic stainless steel one and I felt so dumb for waiting so long - it's not even about the sound, it's about feeling like a civilized human being instead of a construction worker in my own kitchen. My neighbor still uses a cracked one and I have to bite my tongue every time I hear her scraping away in the morning, like girl please just spend the ten bucks.
