I swore I would never paint brick, then my wife talked me into it and now I get it
Our place is a 1952 ranch off Comanche and we have this ugly painted brick on the front that was peeling and chalking. I always told her brick should stay brick. Three weeks ago we got a quote of $3,200 just to prep and repaint it and I almost threw up. So we did it ourselves for $180 in paint and a $60 sprayer from the box store. I watched a guy on YouTube named Rick who owns a paint shop in Amarillo and he said the secret is a masonry primer and a 3/4 inch nap roller. I still think bare brick looks better but honestly the house looks 10 years newer and the neighbors keep slowing down in front of it. Anyone else in the ABQ area deal with the peeling painted brick mess? What did you use so it does not flake again in 2 summers?
