I finally stopped letting the guy at the tile shop talk me into bigger grout lines
Talked to a contractor named Ray at the supply yard on Menaul last week and he told me 3/8 inch grout joints are for guys who can't lay tile flat. I've been using 1/4 inch on every bathroom floor for years because that's what the shop kept pushing. Ray said he's done 60 plus jobs in the Heights with 1/8 inch joints and never had a callback. Went home and measured my last shower and sure enough the lippage was hiding in those wide lines. Now I'm redoing my own bathroom floor with 1/8 and it's taking me twice as long but looks way cleaner. Anybody else get steered wrong by the counter guy at the tile place?
