Three hours to find a single broken wire on a Vista 20p
Last Tuesday I was troubleshooting a panel that kept giving me a ground fault. I checked everything twice. The transformer, the battery, even pulled every zone wire off the board. Finally noticed a staple had gone through the wire behind a drywall patch in the hallway. Three hours gone because of one staple. Has anyone else wasted more time than they expected on a simple issue?

Brother I spent four hours once tracking down a ground fault that was just a screw touching the cabinet door. You start second guessing every connection you ever made.

Four hours though, really? Are we supposed to be impressed or horrified? I mean yeah it's annoying but a screw touching a cabinet door sounds like something you'd catch in ten minutes if you just looked around a bit. Maybe you're overthinking it, you know? Sometimes it's just a loose connection and not a sign your whole career is a lie.
