Saw something clever at an old bank building downtown

I was doing a site survey in a 1920s bank building on Main Street in Dayton last week and noticed they left the old vault door frame in place. Someone had mounted a wireless contact sensor inside the frame where the door used to swing. It gave me an idea for using existing architectural features as mounting points instead of drilling into marble or tile. Has anyone else repurposed old building details like that? I'd love to hear your tricks.
