Dropped $300 on a Klein multimeter and it found a fried panel at a job in Fresno
My old $40 meter kept giving me weird readings on a zone that wouldn't arm, so I finally bought the Klein CL800. Found out the panel's power supply was putting out 3 volts instead of 12, would've chased that ghost for days. Anyone else have a tool that paid for itself on one call?
My Fluke 87 caught a bad neutral on a 480 panel back in 2019, the voltage was reading 277 on one leg when it should've been 120. That meter cost me around $400 but it kept me from getting lit up. The cheap meters just don't pick up those weird readings the same way. Sometimes you gotta spend the money to save your skin.
