Took me 4 years to figure out I was torquing spark plugs wrong on radial engines
I always went by feel and never used a torque wrench on those big old spark plugs until one seized in the cylinder at a job in Burbank and the senior guy showed me the proper spec was way tighter than I thought. Has anyone else learned a basic trick way later than they should have?

4 years" is a crazy long time to be doing it wrong on radial engines of all things. Those big spark plugs are no joke and a seized one can turn a simple job into a whole afternoon of swearing and broken tools. Learning that spec was way tighter than you thought must have been a real gut punch after all that time.
