Debate: torque wrench calibration - shop service or DIY kit?

I spent $85 on a calibration service for my Snap-on torque wrench last month and then found a DIY calibration kit online for $40. The shop did it in a week but I could have done it myself in an afternoon. Has anyone else tried the DIY route or is the shop service worth the extra money?
