Kept a little notebook in my toolbox for years after a diesel shop foreman in Amarillo did the same thing to me. Every time I grabbed a torque wrench I'd jot the date, the wrench number, and what I was torquing, head bolts, mains, whatever. Sounds like a waste of time until you get a comeback job and can prove the spec was hit. Had one guy swear I under-torqued his intake, flipped back a few pages and there it was, 18 ft-lbs, date and all. Little spiral pad costs a buck and saved my butt more than once.
