TIL frozen dumplings come out better if you add a splash of water

After 3 batches of dry, cracked potstickers from my air fryer, I tried tossing a teaspoon of water in the basket before starting and they actually steamed up nice and kept the wrapper soft. Has anyone else messed with adding liquid to the preheat or is that just my weird fix?
