Showerthought: a guy at my gym said air fryers are just ovens for lazy people and I can't stop thinking about it
So I'm at the gym last Tuesday and this guy next to me sees my phone screen with a chicken wing recipe on it and goes "air fryer? that's just a tiny oven for lazy people." I laughed it off but honestly it bugged me for days. Here is the thing though, he's kind of right and kind of dead wrong. Yeah it's a small convection oven, but that smaller space is the point, it gets to 400 degrees in like 3 minutes and my wings come out with way crispier skin than my full oven ever did. I've been doing wings at 380 for 22 minutes, flipping once, and shaking the basket halfway through, and they beat anything I got from the big oven. The lazy part doesn't hold up either, because I'm still seasoning, still preheating, still watching the clock. If anything the fast heat means less room for error, not more. Anyway I think his real problem is he tried frozen fries once and never went back. What do you all make in yours that actually beats the regular oven, not just saves time?
