PSA: Air fryer tofu is actually crispy if you do this one weird thing

I was super skeptical when my sister Rachel told me her air fryer made tofu taste like restaurant quality (she's always trying new fads). After 3 failed attempts where my tofu came out rubbery and sad, I almost gave up completely. Then I found a tip on a random cooking blog to press the tofu for 30 minutes with a heavy pan on top, like a cast iron skillet. After that I tossed the cubes in cornstarch before adding soy sauce and sesame oil, and let me tell you they came out perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside. I tried it with extra firm tofu from Aldi for $2.50 a block and it worked way better than the name brand stuff. Has anyone else found a specific tofu brand or prep method that just works in the air fryer?

Freezing the tofu first changes everything, try it.

Honestly I tried it and the texture was too spongy for me, I prefer just pressing it real good.
