My sister told me my air fryer chicken was too dry and now I'm trying something new

She came over for dinner last week and after one bite of my usual air fryer chicken thighs, she just said, 'Riley, this is like eating a kitchen sponge.' Ouch, right? I always cooked them at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, thinking that was the safe way to get them done. Turns out, she was right, it was way too dry. So I tried her tip: I dropped the temp to 375 and only cooked them for 16 minutes, and I started putting a little water in the bottom of the air fryer basket. The steam helped so much. The chicken last night was actually juicy for once. Has anyone else tried adding a bit of moisture like that, or do you have a better trick for keeping chicken from drying out?

Honestly, my friend tried that water trick and said it made her chicken way too soggy.

Ugh, that's the worst. I bet she didn't pat the chicken dry first, that step is everything. A wet bird just steams in there.
