My air fryer basket fell apart mid-cook last night

Pulled out the basket to shake some frozen fries and the handle just snapped clean off. Had to fish hot fries out with tongs while balancing the basket on a plate, has anyone else had a handle fail on them?

The handle just snapped clean off? That sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. I've had plastic bits get hot and feel soft but never actually break like that. Bet you had some choice words picking those fries out with tongs.

That handle snapping at full shake is legit scary. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap toaster oven where the door latch just gave out one day, sending a half-cooked pizza sliding onto the heating element. Had to unplug the whole thing fast and fish out the cheese with chopsticks. I mean, you'd think these handles would at least last a year, but some of that plastic gets brittle real quick if the heat cycles are strong enough. Maybe it's just me but I'd check if yours has a metal core inside the plastic part before buying a replacement. Some brands hide a thin steel rod in there but if it's all plastic it's basically a ticking clock.
