I was preheating my air fryer wrong for 4 months

I always set it to preheat for 10 minutes before tossing in frozen fries, thinking that was the standard, until my sister in Denver said hers only takes 2 minutes and showed me the manual says to skip it entirely for frozen foods. After trying her method with the same bag of tater tots, they came out crispier in half the time instead of dry on the outside and cold in the middle. Anyone else been wasting time on a fake preheat step?
