My 5 year old CRM finally talks to my email after a weekend of work

I run a small landscaping company, been using the same old CRM since 2020 because it does the job and I didn't want to switch. Last Saturday I sat down and finally connected it to my Gmail using Zapier. No more copying and pasting client emails into the system. It took me about 6 hours total to figure out the mapping and test it, but yesterday I sent a quote from my email and it logged straight into the CRM. Has anyone else had a similar breakthrough with tying old software to new tools?

I finally did that exact thing with my 2018 accounting software last spring, it connected to my payment processor through Zapier too and I swear I lost like 4 hours just staring at the screen when it actually worked. The mapping part was the worst for me, I had to test each field like ten times before I trusted it. I remember thinking why did I suffer through typing every single invoice number for three years when there was a five minute fix. And honestly the relief of seeing that first automated entry go through without me touching it was way better than I expected. It makes me wonder what else I've been doing the hard way just because I assumed it couldn't talk to my old system.

Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought if it isn't broken don't fix it. I had my old CRM from 2019 and just accepted the manual entry grind because I figured the new stuff was too fancy for what I needed. But last month I finally linked mine to a simple webhook and it was like a light bulb went off. Ngl the time I save now just from not copy pasting addresses is kind of embarrassing to admit. Your story makes me want to look into Zapier now.
