AI project managers sound great but they're missing the human touch

I see all this talk about AI taking over project management and I just don't buy it. We tried one of those AI tools to track our tasks and deadlines. It kept flagging things as late when we were waiting on client feedback, which stressed everyone out. My coworker almost quit because the AI kept pinging her after hours for updates. Managing people needs empathy, not just algorithms. We switched back to our old weekly check-ins and morale improved instantly. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one, lol.

I read an article that said AI misses the nuance in project work. Your story about the client feedback loop is a perfect example, I mean it just doesn't get human delays. Those alerts after hours show a total lack of empathy for work life balance. Idk, maybe it's just me but treating people like data points always backfires. The best projects I've seen mix some tech with a lot of old school talk. Without that human check in, you lose the team's drive to actually solve problems together.

Honestly that line about "alerts after hours" is so real. My friend had an AI tool that kept marking tasks as blocked because her teammate was on vacation, but it just kept reassigning the work to him automatically every morning. It created this whole mess where people thought he was ignoring his tasks, and she had to explain the situation over and over. They finally just turned off the auto-alerts and went back to a shared spreadsheet. It was way less stressful once they stopped fighting the system.
