That weird sock ad with the crying potato finally got me after 3 weeks
I kept seeing this same dumb ad on my phone for almost a month. It was for a sock company, and the whole thing was just a potato with a face crying because its feet were cold. I ignored it probably 40 times. Then last Tuesday I was stuck waiting at the DMV in Fresno for two hours, bored out of my mind, and there it was again. I clicked it just to make the boredom stop. Turns out the socks were actually on sale for $12 for 3 pairs and I bought them. They showed up 5 days later and honestly they are fine, nothing special. But I sat there thinking about why that stupid potato worked on me when 40 other ads did not. It was the crying face, I think. It made me feel bad for a vegetable. Has anyone else clicked something just because the ad was so dumb you had to see what it was?
Crying potato solidarity, lol. Dumb ads totally wear you down when you're stuck somewhere with nothing better to do, and the sad face is what seals it every time. At least you got three pairs of socks out of it instead of some junk you can't use.
