The parking lot crack that beat my gallery wall
Walked through the Target lot on Alameda after a storm and saw this long crack in the asphalt filled with sand, splitting around a crushed soda can, and it looked like a river delta or something out of an art book. I snapped a photo and hung it next to my $80 framed prints, and honestly it gets more compliments. Has anyone else found better accidental art on the ground than on their walls?

That line about it looking like a river delta is spot on, that is EXACTLY the kind of thing I notice in parking lots after rain. The sand settles into the crack and the water carves little paths and suddenly you are staring at something that belongs in a museum. I have a photo of a puddle on a busted sidewalk that has better shapes in it than half the stuff hanging in my living room. My sister paid real money for a print of a beach and my cracked concrete picture is more interesting to look at. Something about finding it yourself by accident makes it hit different than art you bought. Keep that photo up, the fancy frames can wait their turn.
