My kid said the rust stain on our driveway looks like a horse, and now I can't unsee it
So my 7 year old was out in the driveway with chalk last Saturday while I was hosing off the garage floor, and she points at this orange rust stain near the gutter and goes "look, it's a horse running." I laughed it off, but then I crouched down and stared at it for a good minute and she's totally right. There's a neck shape, a leg, even a little tail flick where the water ran. It's been there for like 3 years, probably from when our old mower leaked, and I'd walked past it a hundred times without seeing anything. That got me looking around and now I see a face in the water stain on the side of the water heater, and the crack in the sidewalk out front looks like a river delta. My wife thinks I've lost it. The weird part is my kid does this all day, she sees animals in the ceiling texture and the tile grout, and I never paid attention to any of it. Guess the stuff was always there. What's the dumbest everyday thing you've caught yourself staring at because someone pointed out a shape in it?
The horse thing is cute but the water heater face is where you lost me, because a rust stain on a driveway is just water and metal sitting there, not really a shape the way a face in a water heater panel is. Faces are the one thing our brains are built to spot, so that one is way easier to explain than a running horse. The sidewalk crack turning into a river delta also makes sense, since cracks actually branch like water does. Your kid isn't doing magic, she's just seeing what's already there before her brain files it away as boring.
