Why does nobody talk about the old 'Web Pages That Suck' site from 1996?

I was reading a forum post where someone said my own personal site looked 'like a Geocities page that never left 1999', which honestly stung a bit. I mean, I looked up that old 'Web Pages That Suck' site that teaches what NOT to do, and it's still online with all its terrible animated gifs and 'under construction' signs. Has anyone else found a really old, critical site that made them rethink their own web stuff?

Oh man, that site is a total time capsule! I got roasted once for having a visitor counter on my blog, which sent me down a rabbit hole of old web design rants. It's funny how those old rules about blinking text and crazy backgrounds still feel relevant, even if the tech is totally different now. Makes you realize some design mistakes are just forever.
