That conversation with a librarian about old forums stuck with me for days

She said most abandoned websites aren't dead, they're just frozen in time like a digital time capsule, and now I can't stop browsing old forums from 2003. Has anyone else found a forum that's still up but feels like stepping into a completely different decade?

I get what you're saying about them feeling like time capsules, but I see it a little differently. Most of those old forums aren't just frozen, they're abandoned because the community died off. People stopped posting, the topics got stale, and no one bothered to update the software. Browsing them is more like visiting a ghost town than a preserved museum. The real magic was the conversations and the people having them, not just the old design. Without that, it's just a lot of dead links and outdated advice.

omg my friend literally found this old My Little Pony forum from like 2004 that's still up but nobody's posted since 2012 and the last post was someone asking if anyone was still there. she said it felt like walking into a closed down Blockbuster or something.
