My 68 year old dad told me last weekend that a website "expires" like milk, and now I can't stop hunting for frozen ones

We were on his porch in Dayton and he said he still checks a model train forum from 2001 every Sunday because "it's the only one nobody's bothered to take down." That got me poking around for old hobby sites with a copyright line stuck at 2004 or earlier, and I keep finding ones with active guestbooks full of people talking to nobody. Where do you all go looking for these, old web ring lists or something else?
