Hot take: I used to think old fan sites were just clutter until I found one for a forgotten 90s cartoon.

Someone on a different forum said my 'finds' were just broken links and I should look for sites with actual content still working. So I dug deeper and found a fully functional 1998 site for 'The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog' with episode guides and MIDI files. What's the most complete old fan site you've ever stumbled across?

That's a cool find, but calling it a 1998 site might be a bit off. A lot of those old pages have copyright dates that never got updated. The code and design can tell you more. The most complete one I ever found was for an old PC game, with every item and character stat still listed. It even had the original fan forum posts frozen in time. How do you check if a site is really from the year it says?

Honestly the copyright date is usually a good enough clue for me. Who has time to dig into the page code for a casual browse? Finding a working MIDI player feels like the real time capsule anyway.
