Found a static HTML page from 1999 about raising chickens in my backyard
I was looking up coop plans last week and stumbled on this page that hasn't been touched since 1999. The font was Comic Sans and it had a web counter stuck at 847 visitors. But the advice was solid - the guy talked about using pine shavings instead of cedar because cedar oil hurts chickens' lungs. Makes me wonder how many other old resource sites like this are still out there just waiting for someone to find them. Anyone know a good way to search for pages by last update date?

Huh, that's actually kind of neat but I gotta wonder how much of that advice is still good. I mean pine vs cedar shavings is pretty basic stuff that hasn't changed, but some of that old info about feeding and diseases might be outdated or even dangerous by now. People used to think certain things were fine that we know better about today. Not saying you shouldn't check it out, just don't take it as gospel because someone wrote a webpage back in '99.

Nodding along with you on this. I've run into old forums where people swore by feeding rabbits nothing but pellets and hay, but now vets are saying fresh greens should be a bigger part of their diet. That '99 page might have solid info on basic housing and bedding, but I wouldn't trust it for anything medical. The whole thing about cedar causing respiratory issues was barely understood back then, now it's common knowledge. Always worth cross checking anything older than a few years with a current vet or a reputable modern source before trying it.
