I tried to rebuild my 1998 Angelfire page from memory and the marquee tag broke me
So a couple weeks back I got the bright idea to remake my old Angelfire fan page from 1998, the one about Xena with the starry background and the spinning email gif. I found an old Geocities archive site that still hosts the wayback stuff, and I spent like 3 hours trying to remember my exact layout. Turns out I had stacked three marquee tags inside a table cell and somehow it worked back then, but every browser I tried now just choked on it and froze the whole page. I ended up pulling the code apart line by line and honestly the scrolling text was doing way too much, it just looked like a stock ticker having a meltdown. Does anyone still have their original 90s source code saved somewhere, or did we all just let it die with the servers?
