DAE notice how the blink tag went from everywhere to nowhere between 1996 and 1999?
I was messing around on the Wayback Machine last week and pulled up a few personal pages I remembered from around 1996, and almost every one had blinking text or a spinning mailbox gif. Then I checked snapshots from 1999 and it was like a totally different web, way more tables and clean borders, almost no blinking at all. My guess is that once people started using FrontPage and Dreamweaver, the tools made it easy to build a tidy layout, so the wild stuff just faded out. Curious if anyone else remembers a specific site that dropped its blink gifs, or was it just a slow drift everywhere?

Wait, FrontPage and Dreamweaver were around by 1999? That timeline feels way too early for people to have already ditched all the blink tags just because the tools got better.
