Built my first page in HotDog Pro in 1997, opened it last night in a real browser and wanted to hide
Back then I hand typed every tag in HotDog Pro, used the blink tag on my email link, threw in three marquee lines, and slapped a hit counter under a spinning envelope gif on a black background. Now I just want a page to load fast, show my words, and not scream at anyone, and honestly it bums me out a little. I dragged that old GeoCities folder out of a zip on my dad's basement PC in Tulsa and it still had all 14 midi files and a guestbook script. Half the links were dead and the other half pointed at Tripod pages that now sell domains. Does anyone still keep a page straight HTML with no build step, or did everyone fold and go the WordPress route like me?
