Appreciation post: the stranger on a 1998 guestbook who told me my frames were trash
Back in 1999 I ran a personal homepage on Angelfire with 4 separate frames, a scrolling marquee, and a starry background gif, and I thought it was the coolest thing on the web. A guy named webmaster_dave signed my guestbook with one line: "frames break bookmarks and your left nav is 40 percent of my screen, fix it." I tore the whole layout down that weekend and rebuilt it with tables and a simple side bar, and honestly the site got way more traffic after that, so my question is did anyone else get roasted in their own guestbook and actually take the advice?
