Which changed the web more: AOL CDs in the mail or the first real search engine like AltaVista showing up in 1995?
I remember my family getting a free AOL trial CD every month in 1994, but then in late 1995 my buddy showed me AltaVista at his dad's office and suddenly you could actually FIND stuff instead of just hoping someone linked to it, so what do you think was the bigger shift for regular people getting online back then?

I remember my dad bringing home those AOL trial CDs from work and we still couldn't find anything useful online.
