The AOL free trial turned our evenings into a battlefield

We got a free AOL trial disc in the mail, and my parents said we could use it for a month. I mean, every night after dinner, my siblings and I would fight over who got to go online. Idk, maybe it's just me, but the sound of that modem connecting was like a starting gun. One time, my dad tried to check his email and we all had to wait because he took forever. It was chaos. Did anyone else's family deal with this when the internet was new? I'm curious how you handled it.

Bad time management skills is putting it lightly. Our kitchen every morning was pure chaos, like someone shouting about lost homework while the toast was literally on fire. I found my shoes in the freezer once. It was a total circus.
