Different generation maybe, but I don't see it as romanticizing. That four hours taught me patience in a way nothing else did. You planned your downloads overnight, you knew a busy signal meant try again tomorrow. There was a rhythm to it, a kind of forced mindfulness you don't get with instant everything now. The struggle was real but it also made you appreciate the little wins more, like finally hearing that connect sound.

Is it just me or does this perfectly sum up how we romanticize the past while forgetting how frustrating it actually was? We look back at dial-up like it was some magical slow living thing, but really it was just 4 hours of staring at a progress bar praying no one picked up the phone. I swear, the patience we had back then was something else, but not in a good way. It's the same with a lot of things now - we miss the idea of the old days without remembering the actual headaches. Like, yeah, cool we had to wait for photos to develop, but also you'd get a whole roll of blurry pictures and pay for the privilege.
