Pro tip: my 1996 GeoCities fan page survived on a floppy disk for 27 years, and I finally got it loaded in an emulator
Found the disk in a shoebox at my parents' house in Akron last weekend, labeled "dino page final FINAL." I had given up on it maybe 10 years ago when my old tower died and no drive in the house would read it anymore. Grabbed a USB floppy drive off eBay for $18 and an old copy of Netscape in a DOSBox setup, and it booted right up, tiled background, spinning skull GIF, guestbook and all. Turns out the disk only lost 2 files out of like 40, and one of them was just a duplicate. Has anyone had luck pulling a page back off a Zip disk? I have two of those I am scared to even plug in.
