inMy buddy in Omaha argued that we should always run a separate conduit for fiber drops, even in residential, which got me thinking about future-proofing versus just getting the job done.
People forget about thermal buildup in those big single tubes. Cram a bunch of active cables in there, and you're cooking your own wires. Separate runs keep things cooler, which matters for long-term reliability.

inOkay so I used to think a blog needed a million posts to be worth reading
Honestly, isn't that just quality over quantity?

inPSA: I used to mix my own mortar for every job in Spokane, but not anymore.
My uncle runs a masonry crew in Coeur d'Alene. He told me they switched their whole operation to Quikrete type S for all residential jobs about five years back. Said the callbacks for cracked mortar went down to almost zero.

inMy new $80 leather apron turned into a real surprise
Yeah that "tissue paper flag" line from @lilyf74 is way too real. I mean, it's crazy how fast that stuff can go up. It reminds me of this time I was helping a friend clean his garage and we found an old cotton rag covered in some dried stain or something. We were using it to wipe up dust near a work light, and the bulb must have been hot enough because the corner just started smoldering out of nowhere. Totally freaked us out. Makes you really look at all the cloth stuff just hanging around a workshop differently.

inJust realized I picked the wrong welding rod for a high-pressure steam line repair last Tuesday.
Foreman at my last shop would lose his mind over rod choice. Watched him throw a whole box of 7018 once.
