Finally got the hang of cutting around those tricky floor vents without a seam

Wait, hold on. That's not a knee-kicker, that's a stair tool or a carpet awl. A knee-kicker is for starting the stretch on the main area. You use the point of the stair tool to tuck the carpet fibers right into that cut edge around the vent. If you tried to use a kicker there, you'd probably tear the carpet. The method is right, just the tool name is off.

Choosing between a weekly spread and a rolling daily log for my work tasks

Disagree hard on the sticky notes. They get lost, fall off, and create visual clutter that makes the whole system feel messy. A clean rolling daily log is way better for shifting priorities because everything stays in one reliable place. @taylor.betty, moving little papers around sounds like extra steps you don't need. The digital version of a rolling task list on your phone is even faster, no setup at all.

Had a stuck shutter on a Pentax K1000 that would not budge.

Read about using a tiny bit of lighter fluid on an old forum for camera repair. They said it works because it's a light solvent that evaporates fast, so it doesn't leave much residue. I'd be too nervous to try it on a camera I really cared about though.

A guy at the hardware store told me my method for finding studs was basically witchcraft

My altar once caught fire from a candle, it was a whole thing lol.

Showerthought: I just realized I've welded over 10,000 feet of 2-inch schedule 80 pipe in my career, which is almost two miles of seam.

That's a fair point from the_miles about the scale, but honestly, those big numbers just make me think about all the rework. Seen too many miles of pipe get cut out because someone rushed the fit-up or the specs changed last minute. The real skill isn't in the length of the weld, it's in making sure none of it has to be done twice.
