My neighbor's dog always chases me, so I run faster now
Turns out, getting chased is my best speed training.

Used to think you needed a real training plan to get faster. I tried timers and track drills for months with slow results. Then I started taking my bike on this back road where a loose goat would charge the fence every single time. My sprint home from that spot became the fastest part of my week. It turns out real fear, or even just playful chasing, wakes up a kind of speed that quiet focus never touches.

Man, that goat story hits home. I used to slog through treadmill runs until my neighbor's dog figured out how to jump the fence. Every time I passed his house, that mutt would come tearing after me, and I'd find a gear I didn't know I had. Started planning my route just to include that stretch. Nothing like real panic to shave minutes off your pace.

Can quiet focus really give you a stronger base than just running from goats?
