Five hours on a two-mile trail flipped my idea of being late.
Hating delays went out the window when that downpour trapped us on the trail with no cover.

Got lost once on a forest service road for hours but it felt peaceful, not wasted. @the_paul is onto something with that trail time idea.

Sure it changes your view, but getting stuck in a storm for hours just sounds miserable. Clock time might be fake but being cold and wet is very real.

Read an article once about how we measure time wrong in nature. It said trail time and clock time aren't the same thing at all. That storm basically forced you onto trail time, where being "on time" just means getting through the experience. Makes a person reconsider how tightly we hold to schedules back in the regular world.
