My best find ever almost got left behind in a rainy parking lot

I was at the big flea market in Brimfield, Massachusetts, about two years ago. I found this amazing old wooden tool chest, full of rusty but cool looking hand tools, for only forty bucks. I paid the guy and he helped me carry it to my car, but then a HUGE thunderstorm hit out of nowhere. I threw the chest in my trunk and jumped in the car, thinking I was done. When I got home an hour later and opened the trunk, the chest was there... but the small drawer at the very bottom was GONE. It must have fallen out in the rain when we were rushing. I drove all the way back the next morning, my heart sinking, and found the drawer sitting in a muddy puddle right where I parked. It was warped but salvageable. Has anyone else ever had a close call like that, where you almost lost part of your haul before you even got it home?

Oh man, that feeling when you realize a piece is missing is the worst. I once bought a whole box of vintage canning jars at a yard sale, got them home, and found the special glass lid for the butter churn was just... gone. Had to retrace my whole walk back to the car and found it in the grass, totally fine.

Was it a huge relief to find it, @umamoore?
