Showerthought: We had to pick between a bigger house in the suburbs or a small condo downtown.
We chose the condo in Charlotte for the shorter commute, but now we're worried about resale value. Anyone else make a similar choice and regret it later?

Made the opposite call once, bought a house way out. The commute was so long I basically lived in my truck. Now I just live in the truck.

You actually live in your truck now or is that just a joke? That sounds pretty rough if it's true, but I have a hard time believing you went that far.

Used to be Team Suburb all the way. Thought the bigger house was the smarter financial move no question. But reading that guy who literally lives in his truck now totally flipped my view. That commute tax is REAL and it eats up way more than just gas money, it steals your time and your sanity. Having a solid resale value doesn't mean much if you're miserable every single day getting to and from your house. You made the call for your quality of life and that counts for something big.
