Vent: I used to think a 30 watt iron was fine for everything

Honestly, I was trying to replace a tiny SMD resistor on a Nintendo Switch board with my old Weller and just couldn't get enough heat. Ngl, after burning the pad on a $150 repair, I finally bought a proper 80 watt station. How many of you still run into this with modern boards?

What wattage did you end up getting for your new station?

Wait, isn't wattage less important than actual tip temperature control? My old high-watt pencil iron would overheat everything. The new station lets me set it to like 700F for big ground planes, which is what really matters for modern boards.
