Old plumber told me to stop using sharkbite fittings

He said they fail after 5-7 years in Edmonton's hard water. Switched to crimp rings and havent had a leak since. Anyone else ditch the push fittings?

@betty126 hasn’t it been like 10 years since sharkbites came out?

My sister in Calgary had sharkbites fail in her basement after about 4 years, and it completely flooded her storage room. It's funny how we always want the quick fix (you know, the easy button for plumbing) but end up paying for it later. I've noticed this same pattern with so many things - like reusable food containers that claim to be microwave-safe but warp after a few months, or those "no-tie" shoe laces that just stretch out. The old ways usually last because they've been tested over decades, not just a few years in a lab.
